Upon arriving at Bakili Muluzi International Airport in Blantyre, a guide from Malawi on Wheels will greet you and assist with your luggage as you head to your vehicle. After exchanging pleasantries, you will be taken to Gateway Lodge on the base on Mulanje Mountain in Mulanje. The drive will take approximately 3 hours.

Late afternoon, after hours of resting, you will have a pre-hike briefing session as you prepare to hike to Sapitwa (3002 m) and later go for a pre-hike tour to Old Man’s Pools on the Mulanje Mountain. You will return to the lodge late afternoon.

Today after an early breakfast, you will start hiking Mount Mulanje, ascending via the fairly-shaded trail that follows the Likhubula valley to the top of Lichenya plateau arriving at overnight hut early afternoon. Lunch is served en-route. Late afternoon we take a gentle stroll to nearby Linje pool and view point returning to the hut after sunset. Overnight at C.C.A.P. Cottage. Hiking time 6+1 hours.

Day 3: Proceed to Chisepo hut on a winding trail that skirts the main ridge of peaks passing by Lichenya Forest Hut before crossing the knife edge water shed which is the source of Likhubula and Thuchira rivers. Lunch is served at the hut which is the base camp for the Sapitwa peak hike. Late afternoon optional stroll to nearby pool returning to the hut before sun set. Overnight at Chisepo Forest hut: Hiking time 6 hours.

Day 4: After an early light breakfast ascend Sapitwa Peak. On clear day views extend up Zomba Plateau and Lake Chilwa to the North and North West and as far as Milanje mountain in Mozambique to the East. Return to hut for Brunch. Afternoon proceed via undulating path to Thuchira hut. Enjoy sun set at Elephant head view point, overnight at Thuchira Forest hut. Hiking time 8hours.

Your day begins with a scenic descent to Thuchira Tourist Lodge, choosing between the serene Lukulezi River valley trail or the expedited Elephant Head Trail. Refresh with a swim in the natural pools or a refreshing shower before enjoying lunch. A comprehensive debriefing follows, after which you will be transferred to Gateway Lodge for an overnight stay, inclusive of dinner, bed, and breakfast.

Enjoy your last morning in the mountain regions of Malawi. After breakfast, you will start driving to Mvuu Camp in Liwonde National Park - Malawi’s premier wildlife destinations. The drive will take approximately 4 hours.

Enjoy your last activity at the Mvuu Camp. You will be transferred by boat across the Shire River, where you will meet your guide. After greetings, you will be transferred to Chembe Eagles Nest at Cape Maclear on the shores of beautiful Lake Malawi – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The drive will take about 3 hours.

Located in Cape Maclear. Chembe Eagles Nest is cozy and in a tranquil setting away from the hustles and bustles of the village life, boosting a private beach. The quiet and idyllic chalets all face all face the Lake Malawi under a sheltered thatched patio with a pair of easy chairs to watch the exquisite sunsets. Chembe has six double beds and five twin beds chalets and are all en-suite with air conditioning.

Activities include both motorized and non-motorized water sports, island trips, scuba diving, sailing on a 26-foot catamaran, snorkelling and Chembe village tours. The resort is ideal for family holidays.
