Enjoy your last morning on the shores of Lake Malawi. You will be transferred to Lilongwe – the capital city of Malawi, stopping en-route at Kungoni Centre of Culture and Art and later proceed to Burley House in Lilongwe.
Established in 1976 by Fr Claude Boucher Chisale, the Kungoni Centre of Culture and Art at Mua Mission, is located above the lake plain, offering breathtaking views of the lake and the African Rift Valley escarpment. Its landscape is adorned with a variety of tropical tree and shrubs creating a lush botanic garden. It is recognised as a place where the richness of Malawi’s cultural heritage can be encountered and is preserved. The richness of Malawi’s culture has been presented in such a way that it allows people to appreciate and learn from the wisdom of generations of the Malawian people.
Lilongwe is the capital city of Malawi, on the Lilongwe River. At its heart, woodland trails weave through the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre. This sanctuary shelters rescued and injured animals including lions, monkeys and crocodiles. Shops, bars and restaurant dot the Old Town district. The Capital City district also called City Centre, is home to the 21st century, Malawi Parliament, Government Headquarters and Malawi Founding President Mausoleum.
