Your drive will take you take approximately 4 hours.

Today after breakfast and your morning activity in the reserve, get ready to start driving to Liwonde National Park, one of Malawi’s premier wildlife destinations. Your accommodation will be at the Mvuu Camp on Full Board plus 2 game activities per day.

Located in the southern part of Malawi on the banks of Shire River and Lake Malombe. Liwonde National is Malawi’s wildlife premier destination. The 580 sq km wildlife reserve is home to over 400 species of bird, a dense population of hippos, crocodiles, large numbers of elephants and a variety of antelope species. There is regular sightings of lions, cheetahs, and black rhinos.

Mvuu Camp is set amongst large, shady trees along the banks of the surging Shire River. The camp offers a charming setting for those wishing to explore the country’s premier wildlife haven. The impressive thatched dining and lounge area offers magnificent vistas over the river, framed by two large baobab trees. The camp’s inviting pool is ideal for those wishing to cool off. Enjoy your last morning at Mvuu Camp in Liwonde National Park, you will be transferred on a boat across the Shire River. Upon arriving on the other side, you will get to your car and drive to Cape Maclear on the shores of Lake Malawi. Getting to Cape Maclear, you will board a 45 minutes boat to Mumbo Island Lodge – known for its tranquility and stunning views, offering a perfect backdrop for relaxation. Enjoy your time in this picturesque paradise! Drive to Cape Maclear will take approximately 3 hours.

Mumbo Island Lodge is a pristine and deserted tropical island, and the undisputed jewel of the Lake Malawi National Park. The Island has never been populated, and is in its natural state with thick covering of Miombo woodland, ancient fig, and baobab trees.

The five reed chalets are situated on the tiny islet of “Jumbo”, reached by a wooden bridge from Mumbo’s main beach. The dining area, lounge and forest chalet are tucked into the forest on the main island. Chalets are set as far apart from one another as possible to guarantee privacy.
