Accommodation

The Riverside Suites & The Family Cottage

The four spacious riverfront suites at Tongole Wilderness Lodge are large enough to accommodate two adults. Two of these suites feature super-king double beds, while the other two have joinable twin beds.

The family cottage at Tongole is made by hand by local craftspeople using the same unique red rock and earth that the lodge is built on today. For a family or two couples traveling together, the cottage's additional communal space is perfect.

All are en-suite with twin marble basins, a large, hand-built shower and a feature sunken bathtub, both of which are big enough for two! Wraparound wooden decking offers stunning views over the river and forest, the perfect spot to enjoy private moments in nature.

An untouched wilderness

The reserve is Malawi’s oldest and least-developed protected area. Explore the Miombo woodlands, lush rainforest, vast stretches of tall grassland and the riverine.

Jump in one of our luxury safari vehicles and look out for elephants bathing in the river and the boisterous baboons! Set out on foot and explore the unspoilt habitat inaccessible to vehicles or drift along the beautiful Bua River, heading deep into the undiscovered wilderness of Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve.

When To Visit

Tongole Wilderness Lodge is open all year round, offering a relaxing and ethical experiences. However, the best time to visited is during the dry season, which typically runs from April to November. This period is ideal as it is easier to spot animals and the weather is pleasant for safari

While the reserve is warm year-round, the dry season offers the clearest skies and most favorable conditions for game viewing as animals are drawn to water sources.
